Bio & Statement
Sooo-z Mastropietro, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology holds a BFA in Fashion Design and Textile Design. Originally from the Hudson Valley, this serene setting mirthfully set the stage for an untapped eruption of color, clothing, and creativity. "Mastropiece" was born to create and sell wearable and decorative designs that infused art with a purpose. She has continued to develop collections in oil, illustrations of estates, and a line of stationery featuring 'Socialites'. Other endeavors include community sculptural projects, curating, judging art shows, artist in residences, teaching, and classical bass playing. Her current work under the moniker, Knitiot Savant, is a unique fiber art form utilizing a triumph of fabric tubes, nuggets, and shreds in which she has shown all over the country in juried shows and has appeared internationally in publications.
As a mixed media artist, I gather inspiration through color, texture, composition, humor and irony which are essential elements to my work giving way to limitless endeavors infused with spirited experimentation and calculated execution. My unique style is an open curiosity which lends itself well to themes from the irreverent to profoundly conceptual. Going against the standard expectation has largely been my goal but I have developed into a deliberate creative with clear objectives for each endeavor. My objective is to achieve infinite boundaries from a finite form. These intricate concepts represent the parts of the sum which inevitably become the sum of bigger parts.
