What Is Hanukkah?

An International Art Exhibition

(December 10 through January 31, 2021)

BIO

I spent part of my youth in small towns outside of London as well as Mexico where I also studied Art at the Bellas Artes, Guanajuato. Much international living and travel has strongly influenced my art as does my current residence in the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the US.

STATEMENT

I find inspiration almost daily in often the most mundane of subjects, often the antiquated. Town and neighborhood street scenes with figures and/or animals, rich gardens, old buildings, landscape, stills, interiors and dream imagery. Somewhat obsessed with a utopian vision of village life I often see beauty that may or may not be there and is often reflected in my paintings. Though I am Jewish and very much feel so, I was not raised religiously; however I did hear stories and history on at least a weekly basis of life in the 'Shetl' (small rural Jewish villages in Eastern Europe) where my grandparents and family are from. Forming visual images as a child (which did not include the Pograms or Nazis) I now realize is emerging in much of my work.
