Helen Joyce Burroughs

BIO

I grew  up in 1960s Los Angeles with the warmth of the sun, palm trees, ocean breezes and the sound of cool jazz; and gardens filled with vbibrant colors of bougainvillea, roses, camellias and gladiolus.

STATEMENT

Color has the most impact on my art. I find movement in everyday life--the rhythmic quality of a musical compostion, the choreography of dance and the repetition of forms, light and colors. Oil pastels, with their many colors and creamy texture, provide the ability to create wonderful chroma for my floral subjects.
