Bio & Statement
As an artist, I have emerged from underground views to public art exhibits and partnerships in the United States. Creating a brand as an African-American Artist, Activist, Author, Public Speaker, and Former Educator of inner city youth taking on both contemporary and modernized styles within my work with integrating my studio practices with paying homage to my African roots. I have obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts from Seton Hill University, located in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and currently pursuing my Master's in Education at Northcentral University, Scottsdale Arizona. Volunteering in various museums in between the Western Pennsylvania & Washington, DC capturing experiences within minority communities became a passion. It is my love for the arts and awareness of social inequality that keeps me grounded.
There is beauty in just being you and expressing the depth that makes up all of humanity. Such beauty is not found within the clothing, cliché’s, social statues or inner circles that we all take part in; but, through natural simplicity and captivating energy. Depicting cultural differences through photographic images and textiles, I have the ability to orchestrate emotion and intense thought within my body of work that ranges in social contemporary to literary aesthetics throughout the process.
Viewers are invited to take in the feminine mystique, activism, intuitivism, confidence and strength that radiate the depiction of culture as a minority and manifestation. Influences include Georgia O' Keefe, Judy Chicago, Van Gogh, And Henry Ossawa Tanner for so many brilliant self-reflections.
