BIO

Oyelade Oyewole Tayo ( b. 2002, Eruwa Oyo state, Nigeria.) is a visual artist who draws and paints thought provoking and interactive conceptual art. He paints on various surfaces, with which he engages his audiences on personal issues like: betrayals, assaults, distrust, disappointment, abuse etc. as well as global issues like: gender equality, racism, freedom of speech, corruption, etc. proffering ways to handle and respond to them. African culture, identity as well as black power are few themes in his artistic executions.

Oyelade Oyewole is currently undergoing his National Diploma programme at the Adeseun Ogundoyin Campus Eruwa Oyo state, Nigeria in Fine and applied art. His passion for art started from his primary school days where he draws with his pen on any available surface from his imagination, surfaces including his body. If you want to inspire Oyewole, tell him a story of your everyday struggles, stories you cannot tell the general public. His works revolve round the troubles of people, with the hope of making a change in his community. He is an activist of change; change of behaviours from the perpetrators as well as change of response from the victims.

Oyelade Oyewole Tayo has participated in different exhibitions both visual and virtual including the Life in my city exhibition at the Alliance Franchise Ibadan, Breathing while black; Augusta Savage gallery, ARC Salon 2020. His work "Yet We Still Smile" won the honourable mention in ARC Salon 2020 under the teens category. Oyelade loves experimenting with diverse media.
