Dusty Rose was born in Karachi, Pakistan and spent her childhood in Istanbul, Turkey. Her artwork showcases the potpourri of cultures and traditions she has already experienced and anticipation of what she has yet to discover. Each piece is a continuation of her practice, as if the mediums are on a journey with her. Dusty lives and works in Los Angeles and her work has been included in group exhibitions throughout the US, and internationally in Turkey and Italy, among others.
Her current work is concerned with identity and belonging, echoing her unique upbringing, along with observing the exhaustion, aloneness and desolation of a neutral state. Working primarily with textures, materials and fragments, her pieces reflect the humanistic, natural curiosity of the wealth and heritage presented in this world.
My artwork showcases the potpourri of cultures and traditions I have already experienced and anticipation of what I have yet to discover. I seek to understand how connections and memories are formed in environments where the only constant is instability. Through printmaking, drawings, installation and paintings, my work is concerned with identity and belonging, echoing my upbringing, and reflecting the natural curiosity and heritage presented in this world.
Being Paid for Dreaming

"Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and embracing who we are." - Brene Brown
