The Endangered, Can Art Save Them?
An International Art Exhibition
(November 7 through January 8, 2021)
Natalia Leigh is a contemporary realist painter who lives and works in Kannapolis North Carolina. Her distinctive personal style emanates love to the nature and optimistic attitude to life. Natalia likes to paint with oil on canvas, sometimes on black canvas. Most of her paintings look like a view from the window. As the artist explains, "I am a storyteller, I invite you to look out of the window of your soul and see how beautiful the world around is."
Natalia's artwork has been shown in her solo exhibition in Mooresville Art Gallery, Yadkinville and Morganton North Carolina. She is award winner of several local and national art contests and shows. In December 2018 Natalia Leigh received President's Choice award for outstanding work in the visual arts from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Presently Natalia works as a nurse and painting pictures in her spare time in her own studio in Kannapolis.
I was born in Russia and liked to draw pictures from my childhood. In 2005 I moved to United States for a better life. My transition between two countries was not simple. I was happy to find more opportunities for education, work, and expression of myself at my new home America. The difference in culture, traditions, language, and style of life affected my paintings. I see everything in my past in black and white, and my present is colored with bright colors, the colors of new vision of this word, happiness , curiosity, and hope.
When I first came to North Carolina and saw how Crepe Myrtle trees are blooming among the streets, I fell in love with this state instantly. The unity of the ocean, cities , and mountains placed a lot of passions in my heart. Those passions are: small country roads with farms and animals, the wild life and nature, the architecture, and emerald waves at the ocean. I brought those small passions to my art, and placed them on canvas.
