My sculpture describes a sailboat that transforms into ocean waves. The boat symbolizes us humans and the waves symbolize the sea. The boat becomes one with the sea as to illustrate the symbiosis between us humans and our planet (land and sea). Our limited vision makes us perceive ourselves as individuals, as if separated from this planet and anything around us. But we're actually inseparable. Whatever we do to our oceans, we do to ourselves. If we harm the sea, we actually harm ourselves and if we cherish the sea, we cherish ourselves. The sailboat distorted position implies that change is required or else it will capsize. We should take care of the oceans and keep them safe for the sake of saving ourselves.

BIO

I'm a sculptor from Israel and have been living in Vancouver with the love of my life since 2015. Art was always an important part of my life. Even as a child, you could have never seen me without a piece of material in my hands, trying to give it a life of its own. Somehow when choosing a major in college, I chose industrial design over art. During 3 years of studies I was lucky enough to gain great friends, knowledge about tools and techniques, though I didn't get to be an industrial designer. Eventually, I figured out this path wasn't quite right for me. Sometimes we take a wrong turn, only to get to the right place. Sculpting feels like home to me.
