Pandemic, The Light Therein

(June 2020)

For the past several years I have have been composing familiar landscapes of New England and Long Island by painting drawing and building constructions which I then photograph. I am interested in paring down and simplifying form but creating dialogues that hold the compositions together as well as continuing to work the impressions of home and the memories of place. The iconic house is part of the dialogue of architecture and the grid form which has continued in this new series of red mazes which I have selected for this application.

BIO

New England is the place of my childhood, having lived there half my life. my early art training at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, undergraduate work at Massachusetts College of Art and first exhibitions in and around Boston, helped form the minimalist and conceptual aesthetic that is represented in past and current work. Now living in Sag Harbor, Long Island, I continue to work the impressions home but now take broader steps with a less conservative palette and more minimal/abstract form.
