This Call for Art Entries is for artists who wish to commemorate Freedom Day!

Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas.

Artists of the world, we invite you to join in celebrating the enduring spirit of Juneteenth through your powerful artistic expressions. For nearly 160 years, Juneteenth has commemorated the end of slavery in the United States - a pivotal moment that represented the promise of freedom, human dignity and equal rights for all. Its significance was further enshrined when President Joe Biden declared Juneteenth a federal holiday in 2021, ensuring this day receives the national recognition it deserves.

On this canvas of history, we urge you to create works that give vivid form to the struggles, resilience and triumphs of the African American experience. Depict the indomitable will of enslaved ancestors who endured the injustice of bondage. Capture the indelible hope that burned in their hearts during the long march towards liberation. Convey the joyous, sacred moments when the chains finally fell away.

But let your artistic voices also shed light on the ongoing quest for true equity that Juneteenth represents. Explore the distance yet to travel in eradicating systemic racism and fulfilling the democratic ideals of equality and justice. Challenge us to continue boldly forging a more compassionate and inclusive society.

Through your colors, lines, textures and all media interpretations, you have the power to educate, unite and inspire people across all borders and backgrounds. Share your unique cultural perspectives and creative visions to uplift the abiding message of Juneteenth - that freedom is an unconquerable human right to be fervently defended and celebrated by all.

We await your meaningful artwork that will stir souls, spark dialogue and stand as an enduring testament to the human capacity for resilience, hope and the unending pursuit of a better world.

Selected work(s) will:
 

• be exhibited in the virtual 3-D virtual gallery

• appear on the Art Impact Exhibitions T.V. channel on ROKU and Amazon Fire TV

• appear in the print-on-demand exhibition catalog

• appear in the group video on social media

• appear in the 3-D gallery artist talk and tour event via Zoom.

Entry Fee:  Submit up to three (3) art works. 

$0 (Free for Art Impact International Members in good standing.)  

$45 (for non-members.)*
NOTE: If you are NOT a paying member in good standing (annually or monthly) and have not paid your entry fee, your work will not be considered for the exhibition.

RULES:​

1. ​Artists ages 18 years and older, from any country in the world may apply.

2. All media, including but not limited to painting, photography, poetry reading, spoken word video, are accepted.  Video files must be less than 128 MB.  Allowed file types: .mov, or .mp4, (.mp3 for audio narrations).  2D entries must be submitted in the correct high resolution format (jpg, jpeg, png.) min. 1MB - max. 8MB in size.

3. One entry form submitted per artist (upload up to three artworks.)

4. Artwork must be kid friendly.  No explicit sexual imagery will be selected.

5. The artwork submitted by the artists may be used for further marketing, publications or exhibitions.  By submitting artworks, the artists agree to grant the Organizers limited Use Rights.  Read Use Rights Agreement Here.

6. All submitted artworks may not be selected.  Entry fees are non-refundable.
