Dana C. Jurcul

Artist's Bio

Dana C. Jurcul, was born in Transylvania, Romania (b.1980s). As she journeyed into uncharted life terrains, she chose to funnel her emotional propensity and tension into intentional and purposeful artistic expression. She founded D’Awakening Art as a connective tissue between her inner and outer world.  Her art embodies deep inner world journeys and discoveries, full of symbolism, insightful messaging and heart vibrations. Her art style can be best described as a fusion of futurism and conceptualism through use of abstraction and symbolism. Dana is quite fond of color, diversity and narrative and prefers ranges of expression in size and mediums. Dana is constantly experimenting with new techniques and approaches to her art.

Dana refuses to be confined by artistic norms and genre, and prefers instead to be known for her deepness, intensity and rawness that speak to personal and intimate self-discoveries and journeys. Her work relies on powerful imagination and expression rather than formal art or writing training. Through deep inner-work and self-discovery, Dana brings light to awaken humankind and channels it in D’Awakening Art.

Statement

My culturally diverse family promoted the vibration of an artist and writer at an early age and accessed my inborn heritage for music, arts and creative expression. Raised as a sheltered child, my mother poured passion, love and creativity through play, connection to nature and creative expressions while my father brought introspection, psychological analysis and learning to her soul. Since early stages of my life, I was drawn to expression, creativity and inspiration. My friends and family exposed to D’Awakening art frequently noted the deep and rich emotional content of my creative manifestation. And yet, with every accolade and comment, I chose to shelter my art closer to her soul while feeling less and less understood.

As a child, I would intensively taste every moment, and return with deep curiosity; however, nothing seemed to completely satisfy my curiosity. Later in life, my outer reality felt out of sync with my upbringing. Disconnecting experiences formed into inner outcries which evolved into emotional explosions of artistic and creative expression. I would often sketch and write poetry and narrative to release emotional content and find inner peace. At times I would experience a fragile and survivalist soul disconnected from the heart’s need to express which would just increase my emotional tension. Always searching for meaning, always hungry for understanding, always onto the next personal growth objective I found a language to convey my inner world as student, artist and mother. Pausing, self-reflecting, suspending judgement and trusting my inner intuition were very useful in creating D'Awakening Art. I encourage the community to take a similar approach in seeking unspoken answers and visions.
