Gabriela Farnell
BIO
Gabriela Farnell was born in 1967 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Both for her self-taught training and for the management of her work independently and self-managed, coinciding with the democratization of the art market that implied the massive internet, she maintains and exercises the new position of the artist as exclusive manager of her work, reaching international dissemination through the use of new technological resources.
Gabriela Farnell's artwork is a constant search, a search understood as a game shared with the spectator, in the combination of common cultural memories, popular iconography, historical codes and aesthetic contemporaneity. The art understood as kind communication of open end, without prejudices or morals. Gabriela Farnell enjoys the creative game and shows it in each of her works, inviting the viewer to share that enjoyment.
STATEMENT
As an independent and self-taught artist, I try to spread my work using the Internet as a tool for both the virtual exhibition and the international coordination for the physical exhibition. This interaction with artists, curators and spectators from different latitudes, different languages and dissimilar cultures is a challenge to achieve with my work a broad language and of multicultural significance. In that search for universality I find myself. As Jorge Luis Borges said: we don't owe it to one tradition, we can aspire to all.
Avanti
As a woman artist, I face my position in the art world from the conviction of equality. We get to where we want to go.
Identity (Identidad)
The multiplicity of the feminine spirit implies infinite possibilities
